Selecting the right location to live in a new city can be difficult and depends on personal needs and preferences, this guide outlines some of Doha's residential areas.
The Pearl
This is perhaps the trendiest and most talked-about area of Doha. Made up of reclaimed land to the north of the Corniche off the Qatar Peninsula, it has high-end apartment buildings with luxury shops and restaurants, plus jetties to moor large yachts and appeals to high income expats as well as Qataris.

West Bay/Dafna
This area houses most of Qatar’s foreign embassies and diplomatic accommodation. Most families living here are Qataris with large villas. Situated in the financial district and surrounded by high rise buildings, there are many five-star hotels in the area.

Mushereib
Downtown and close to the business district and main market area (Souq Waqif) this area has narrow lanes, small shops and older style apartments.

Al Gharaffa
One of the largest areas in Doha, Al Gharaffa has free-standing villas, compounds and apartments. Al Thumama – Doha
Near the old airport, Al Thumama has villas and apartments, and is popular with expats with easy access to schools and nurseries. It is also the location of the Kahramaa Park, a state-of-the-art park that teaches residents and children about electricity and water conservation for increased greenery in this desert country.
