A new ultra-expensive development in Dubai, aptly named XXII Carat, features bathtubs hewn from a single piece of Brazilian stone.
Property developers The Forum Group are building the 22-villa XXII Carat estate on Palm Jumeirah, one of Dubai's man-made archipelagos.
Said to be selling for between $15 million and $33 million, each villa is an exercise in opulence, with some featuring bathtubs hewn from a single piece of quartz stone, said to be worth US$1 million (which converts to $1.3 million).
The bathtubs are made by Italian specialist Baldi in a collection titled 'Jewels for the Home'. Huge slabs of exquisite stone are brought directly from the Amazon to be carved by hand in Dubai.
