An 18.8 percent increase in rooms under contract in the Middle East since July 2015.
ArabianBusiness reports that both Dubai and Saudi Arabia's holy city of Makkah, have more than 20,000 hotel rooms in the pipeline.
Makkah currently has 13 hotels under construction, equalling 21,835 rooms, while Dubai has 67 hotels adding up to 20,882 rooms in construction, according to analysts' STR's July 2016 Pipeline Report.
Two additional cities in the MENA region reportedly have more than 5,000 rooms under construction, with Riyadh having over 6,650 rooms in 30 hotels, and Doha having 6,830 rooms in 30 hotels.
STR also reported that the Middle East as a region has 155,899 rooms in 552 projects 'Under Contract'.
'Under Contract' data includes projects in the Construction, Final Planning and Planning stages.
STR said the 'Under Contract' total in the Middle East represents an 18.8 percent increase in rooms compared to July 2015.
Specifically in the 'In Construction' phase, ArabianBusiness reported that the Middle East has 83,194 rooms in 259 hotels, which is a 12.2 percent increase in year-over-year comparisons.
