The government-owned developer responds to the rapidly growing tourism and real-estate sectors in the Sultanate of Oman.
Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC), the sultanate’s landmark business events hub, officially opened its doors recently on October 10.
The inaugural event was Infra Oman 2016, a global trade show for infrastructure and industrial projects.
At approximately 4 kilometres from the Muscat International Airport, the convention and exhibition centre is part of Madinat Al Irfan Urban Development.
Designed to be the region’s leading facility for conferences and exhibitions, OCEC has been developed by Omran, a government-owned program that drives the investment, growth and development of the tourism and real-estate sectors in the Sultanate of Oman.
Omran stated that the centre has been designed to meet the demands of global conference organisers, with 19 meeting rooms easily accessible from the Theatre and Grand Ballroom, offering 25-360 seats that overlook luscious landscapes.
It also includes five exhibition halls that feature 22,000 square metres of exhibition space, a 4,200 bay multi-storey carpark, and an energy centre in the first phase of development.
The next phase, which includes a two-tiered 3200 seat auditorium and two hotels, is under construction and expected to open next year.
