Award winning architect designs revolutionary transport system to travel between the two cities in under 15 minutes.
Dubbed the Hyperloop One, the high-speed system has been designed to link the UAE's two largest cities Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and drastically shorten the travel time for commuters between them.
It has been reported that the tests earlier this year saw model pods reach speeds of 187 km/h (116 mph) in just 1.1 seconds.
Ahead of the official unveiling of a fully-operational model on November 7th in Dubai, a video has been released by BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) Ideas featuring teasers of the project’s design.
Director of BIG Ideas, Jacob Lange, says that all the technology they need in order to complete the project already exists. “We’re not waiting for new technology like carbon nanofiber or anything in order to do this. We have everything we need to do it and it’s a matter of doing it in the best possible way,”
BIG Ideas is an internal technology and innovation driven special projects unit within BIG, an award winning group of architects, designers and builders. BIG is known for iconic projects such as Google North Bayshore in California, LEGO House in Denmark, and the Two World Trade Centre in New York.
The Hyperloop will be revolutionary to the way people travel, allowing passengers to traverse the 150 kilometres between Dubai and Abu Dhabi in a matter of minutes. The system will consist of air-cushioned pods speeding through a semi-vacuumed tube. The video shows a network of tubes that will pass through Abu Dhabi Airport, Al Maktoum Airport and Dubai Airport. There will also be connections for Khalifa Port and Jebel Ali Port.
