Suburban areas are gaining popularity as areas to move in Dubai, such as Dubailand and Silicon Oasis according to Service Market.
There has been a shift in moving trends in Dubai in the first quarter of 2017. Residents are increasingly choosing to move to suburban areas instead of the built-up high rise communities, to areas such as Dubailand and Silicon Oasis.
Service Market’s bi-annual moving trends report monitors Dubai’s moving trends, and collects data of the number of moving house quotes they receive.
In Q1 2016, residents moving into Dubai Marina and Downtown made up almost a fifth (19%) of all moves within Dubai.
This year, however, Dubailand emerged as the most popular destination with an inflow of 13%, followed by Dubai Marina/JBR, Downtown, Barsha Heights and Silicon Oasis.
Top 5 most popular areas in Dubai:
2016 | 2017 |
1 Dubai Marina/JBR | 1 Dubailand |
2 Downtown/DIFC | 2 Dubai Marina/JBR |
3 Jumeirah Village | 3 Downtown/DIFC |
4 Sports & Motor City | 4 Barsha Heights/Greens |
5 Dubailand | 5 Silicon Oasis |
Dubailand is still under development but looks to become one of Dubai’s most popular areas. Located just off Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road, it moved from fifth place (5%) in the first quarter of 2016, to first place in the first quarter of 2017. The most common community to move to within Dubailand is the Mira community, followed by Remraam, Mudon and The Villas.
These suburban areas have become more attractive as prices for freehold properties tend to be much lower than areas such as Dubai Marina, and there are new shopping malls, schools and facilities, plus there is the added bonus of less traffic.
