An award-winning architecturally designed one-bedroom retreat in Amman.
'A House For a Son', approrpiately named because it is a separate one-bedroom residence aside from the main house, was designed by Maisam Architects and Engineers.
It is located west of Amman, Jordan, on a 7,000 square metre site that overlooks the hills of Jerusalem.
The one-bedroom home is a small construction that adjoins the larger family residence.
It was built to create a private, and yet still integrated, space for the family’s son.
Architects from Maisam Architects and Engineers say that is creates a place for the son that is as independent as "the youthful soul, while maintaining a bridge with the family”.
The home was designed to blend in with the natural environment, with a waterfall flowing from the son’s home to the main family residence, filling their water feature as a sign of appreciation to the parents.
The one-bedroom retreat is also constructed from natural materials like local stone and wood and also glass.
It is the winner of Arabian Property Awards, 2012 for Best Single Residence, Jordan and was also shortlisted in the International LEAF Award, 2014
