In Morocco, buildings with internal courtyards are known as ‘riads’, or ‘dars’. Riads have a garden (the Arabic word riad means garden), often with orange and lemon trees and sometimes with a fountain; whilst dars have a courtyard (rather than a garden) typically with a fountain in the centre. Having trouble choosing between the two styles?
