Thousands of requests to move house in Abu Dhabi have been analysed and show the most popular areas that the UAE capital's residents moved to.
Thousands of moving requests in Abu Dhabi placed through ServiceMarket in 2017 have been analysed and reveal the areas that witnessed the most moving-in activity in the UAE capital. The study is a first-of-its-kind analysis of moving trends in Abu Dhabi and highlights many interesting moving trends including the most popular areas that residents moved to.
With 14.46% of all move-in requests, Madinat Zayed was the most popular area in 2017, followed by Al Reem Island with 13.88%, Khalifa City with 11.70%, Al Khalidiyah with 7.46% and the outskirts of Abu Dhabi with 6.12%. While established and densely-populated areas like Madinat Zayed and Al Khalidiyah are still very popular, newly developed contenders like Al Reem Island and Khalifa City are very close to the top position. A lot of people are also moving to the outskirts of Abu Dhabi, which are villages beyond Al Reef on the road to Dubai.
ServiceMarket suggests that Madinat Zayed and Al Khalidiyah are in the top five list because, in addition to being the business hub of Abu Dhabi, both of these areas are established and offer many amenities like a variety of shops, schools and recreational facilities.
However, since newly developed areas such as Al Reem Island, Khalifa City, and outskirts of Abu Dhabi have larger houses with gardens and compounds with pools, they are also very close to the top position. In addition, people could be moving to these suburbs and outskirts of Abu Dhabi to avoid traffic and congestion and easy access to Dubai for those who commute, and the outskirts tend to offer lower rents. In Dubai, Dubailand, a newly developed area, recently overtook the more established Dubai Marina, which had held the top position for two consecutive years.
